It’s happening! Summer is here! Everyone loves a good summer vacation, but there are so many incredible events taking place in your own backyard. We love to stay connected to our community and what better way than to get involved with local businesses and events. Whether you’re interested in music, sports, the arts, community fundraisers, or comedy, there is something for everyone happening nearby.

Hamilton

Hamilton Arts Week

Where: Various venues around Hamilton

When: June 9th-June 17th

What: Hamilton Arts Week returns with signature events featuring inspiring performances, programming and art showcases, celebrating the city’s unstoppable creativity. Art Crawl, which takes place once a month, will also be taking place on June 10th. Stroll along the historic James St N and stop into many galleries, shops, bars, and restaurants. Enjoy street art, performers, vendors, and craft markets that make this event a truly welcoming, cultural experience.

Hamilton Tiger Cats vs Calgary Stampeders

Where: Tim Hortons Field

When: June 18th @ 6:30pm

What: Catch the action as the Hamilton Tiger-Cats take on the Calgary Stampeders at Tim Hortons Field for their home opener.

Arkells Present The Rally

Where: Tim Hortons Field

When: June 25th @6:00pm

What: One of Hamilton’s favourite bands is back for a much-anticipated hometown show at Tim Hortons Field. Special guests will include MT. Joy, K. Flay and Haviah Mighty.

Waterdown/Flamborough

Waterdown Farmers Market

Where: Royal Canadian Legion

When: Saturdays, 8:00am-1:00pm

What: With 20-35 local vendors each week – vegetables, fruits, berries, micro greens, meat, eggs, fresh cut flowers, baked goods, prepared foods, preserves, VQA wines and more – there are tons of options to choose from!

Flamborough Paint Challenge

Where: Joe Sam’s Park

When: June 29th 3:00pm-8:00pm

What: The Flamborough Paint Challenge is an epic obstacle course winding through Joe Sam’s Park. Participants are doused in a burst of colour with powder paint as they run. This is a youth led event that empowers youth to take on leadership roles, build relationships and connect to the community. All proceeds support youth in Flamborough through initiatives such as the Ally Program, What’s Your Path and Youth Portal. Registration includes: food and beverage, access to the mini games, entertainment; live music, and a plain white t-shirt.

Burlington

Sound of Music Festival

Where: Downtown Burlington & Waterfront

When: June 12-19

What: The Sound of Music operates as a non-for-profit corporation and stages Canada’s Largest Free Music Festival every year in June. Music will be heard throughout the downtown for 9 days straight. They will be hosting a ticketed kick-off concert called Live on the Lake on June 11th featuring performances by Three Days Grace, Tim Hicks, The Beaches and Saving Abel. The SOM event also features the Grand Festival Parade, Streetfest, Midway, and Battle of the Bands.

Burlington Relay for Life

Where: MM Robinson High School

When: June 11th, 4:00pm-10:00pm

What: The Relay for Life is an annual fundraising event where participants of all ages gather at a community space and take turns walking around a track or path to symbolize the perseverance and action needed to change the future of cancer. They also hold a Luminary Ceremony that lights up the track in honour and memory of those we love that have been affected by cancer.

RBG Arts After Hours: Movie Night

Where: Royal Botanical Gardens

When: June 27th, 6:00pm

What: Catch the musical “La La Land” in Hendrie Park. The RBG is bringing the magic of the big screen outdoors. Your ticket also includes complimentary popcorn and exclusive access to RBG’s “Seeing the Invisible” augmented reality art exhibit. It is a 19+ event. Seating is general admission and guests are asked to bring blankets, cushions or pillows for seating.

Nickel Brook Comedy Show

Where: Nickel Brook Brewing Co.

When: June 30th, doors open @ 7:00pm, comedy from 8:00pm-10:00pm

What: Craft pints and punchlines on the patio! Nickel Brook Brewery is hosting a comedy show lined up with some of Ontario’s best comedians including: Patrick Coppolino, Ryan Sim, Ken Dee and Manolis Zontanos is closing the show out! No age restriction, although recommended not suitable for 16 and under.
